Baby Liam!!!

OK The BIG update

Sorry everyone it has been far too long!!!!!

Thursday 1/27/2011

Once upon a time a long long time ago (11 days and 6 hours) Kim and I woke up (3:30am) well Kim woke up, I never went to sleep out of excitement for Liam’s arrival.  So anyway, we left for the hospital, and let me tell you I was like paparazzi up in there!!!!! So there we were after 39 weeks of baking in the oven, the bun was done! Kim and I checked into the labor and delivery center (5:00am) they put us in a room right across from the nurse’s desk and all most right away (5:05am) they put Kim into labor.  So far all was going smooth not much pain, just excitement for him to be here.  Dr. Vaughn showed up (7:00am) and broke her water and here we go. At about 8:00 am I decided that I had all the fun I was going to have and had them come start my epidural :) Well come to find out Dr. Vaughn had another mom next door which is a funny story.  Dr. V came in and the first thing he said was, “I’m going to have to do a C-Section” I’m actually not really sure what else he said after that because I was freaking out.  I thought that everything was progressing nicely.  I had no idea why I would have to have a C-section!  Well what he meant was he was going to have to do a C-Section on the mom next door, not me!  After that we waited and waited and all of a sudden it was TIME but wait we need the doctor and he is still in surgery!  So we waited some more and just in time Dr. V swoops in and in minutes Liam was here (2:04pm) everything went great with both Kim and Liam. They were instantly checking Liam out (weighed 7 lb 5oz 19 in long) after a few hours (4:00pm) they moved us to a new room and took Liam.  He got a bath and some more tests and the rest of the day flew by….

Friday 1/28/2011

The whole day was full of getting to know our son and it was full of good stuff like his first hiccups.  We were hoping to go home that night but alas no we stayed one more night.  Thursday night B stayed with me in the hospital and he snored something awful and the little cot they rolled in for him to sleep on squeaked loudly with every move he made, so I made him go home to sleep this night!!!

Saturday 1/29/2011

We have been at the hospital for 2 and a half days now, and we were ready to go home and show Liam his home and the world.  They finally released us at about 12:30 and we were so excited to go home.  It was a beautiful day and we drove home with the windows open to help Liam get some sun because he had some very mild jaundice.  Getting home was fun and showing Liam around and introducing him to Botox was blast.  She was and still is very curious about him, but is doing great around him!

Sunday 1/30/2011

This was another beautiful day and we actually took Liam for his first walk on the Trail De Paris.  We enjoyed this last day home just the three of us, because we knew that B would have to go back to work the next day.

Monday 1/31/2011

This was Broadway’s first day back to work and my first day home alone with Liam.  It went well and was full of me learning how much you can do one handed while you hold a baby!

Tuesday 2/1/2011 and Wednesday 2/2/2011

And queue the bad weather, where it had been 75 and sunny the weekend before it was now raining freezing rain as well as snowing.   Broadway actually had both of these days off which was really nice to be able to have some more time at home just the 3 of us.  On Tuesday we took Liam to the Doctors for a check up.  I think the people thought we were crazy, but we explained to them that we were from Colorado and this was nothing! (It was -25 degrees at my house in Elbert!)  When we were released from the hospital Liam weighed in at 7 lbs even.  When we went for this checkup Liam weighed 7 lb and 1 oz.  Dr. Cutrell said that he was looking good and to just keep an eye on his jaundice.  He thought it had gone up some, but not enough for us to get it tested that day.  He said to go have him retested on Friday.

 Thursday 2/3/2011

Broadway went back to work and I just stayed home and loved on Liam!

Friday 2/4/2011

So I thought we lived in Texas, but looking at the 6 ins of snow we got on Friday had me confused!  And because of all the snow B had another snow day! We were suppose to go get Liam’s jaundice checked and go weigh him, we had decided that we would just wait and do it on Monday when we noticed his circumcision was looking swollen.  So we bundled up and headed out.  First they weighed him and he still came in at 7 lb 1 oz, then Dr. Cutrell checked him and said that it was just healing.  Since we were already out we headed to the hospital so Liam could get his jaundice checked.  Dr. Cutrell called us back that afternoon and said that he was at a 10.5 which is up from the 7 he was at the hospital, but that it was not high enough to worry about so unless he stopped eating well and gaining weight we would not have to check it again!

Saturday 2/5/2011

Today we went out and visited Grandpa David and Uncle Ethan.  We were finding out what a good baby Liam is to travel with!  He does great in the car!

Sunday 2/6/2011

We took Liam to church for the first time and he slept the entire service.  That evening our friends Jeff and Sara came over to watch the Super Bowl so Liam got lots of cuddles in!

Monday 2/7/2011

The big news from today is that Liam is back up to his birth weight of 7 lb and 5 oz!!!

It’s already been 11 days since our little boy was born and I can’t believe how fast it has already flown by.  I’m doing everything I can to cherish all the little moments and take everything in! Liam is such a good baby and hardly ever cries, most times I have to wake him up to eat!   We love him more and more every day!

Tomorrow!!!!

Ok so tomorrow our lives are going to change forever and we both cannot wait!  Although we have some worries and fears we know that God gave us this little baby at the perfect time in our lives and we can’t wait to be his parents!  Everyone seems to like trying to freak you out about how hard it is to be a parent, but we are ready for the challenging times because we know the rewarding times will far outnumber the tough ones.   I have always dreamed of being a mommy and tomorrow that dream will come true and I have the best man in the world at my side to lead, protect, and love our little family.
We have to be at the hospital by 5:00 am for them to start inducing me.  We’re not sure where we will be updating more but check back here and my Facebook page and we will keep everyone posted throughout the day.  We love you all and can’t wait to introduce Liam Scout Broadway to you tomorrow!
Now for an update on Denise.  She was responding better as of last Friday, but on Saturday her lungs started filling with fluid.  They had to put her back on intubation and another medically induced coma to try and fix the lung problem.  They are still not sure why this happened.  The latest we heard today is all her scans and x-rays are looking better and they hope to take her back off the intubation again soon!
Love you all and we will do the best to keep updating as we bring home our little bundle of joy!

Friday Update

Here’s a quick update on Denise!  A couple of days ago they took her of intubation and put in a trach tube.  Since then her responses have been better and better.  We heard today that David walked into her room and she opened her eyes, looked at him, smiled and waved.  She seemed to know who he was which is super super encouraging!!!   Thank you all so much for your prayers and support through all of this and we hope that she just keeps recovering!

We are also anxiously waiting on Liam! My Mom is convinced he is going to come tomorrow so we will just have to wait and see!!! I have a full weekend planed of house cleaning and final baby preparations so we are ready for our little man! It is so crazy and yet so exciting to think this is last weekend that it will just be the 2 of us!  We love you all and will keep you posted as to whether or not my mom’s predictions comes true!

Where we are at now...

Ok everyone sorry for the lack of updates, but as we have learned this week this is going to be a really long and slow process.  They told us it could be 6 months to a year till we really know how well Denise is going to recover.

This past Saturday Broadway’s Aunt Brenda and Cousin Mindy and her husband Corbin drove from Waxahachie up to Paris.  Mindy and Corbin stayed with me because we decided it was just too close to Liam time for me to make the trip to Dallas again.  Broadway drove down with his Aunt Brenda and got to spend the day with his mom and other family members.  They came back that night and then they all went back to Waxahachie.  It was so awesome for them to stay with me because I know they did a lot of driving that day, but B was scared to leave me alone!

Ethan came and stayed with us later that night so we could take him to church in the morning.  Since Monday was MLK day Broadway had the day off from work and Ethan from school.  They decided to go back up to Dallas to see Denise again and hopefully get to talk to a doctor since those are hard to come by on the weekends!  They got up there and did get to talk to a doctor.  They learned again about how slow of a process this is going to be.  But there was some encouraging news.  Denise is now opening here eyes some.  She is not responding to voices really but she is off most of her meds and they are talking about starting to take out some of her tubes.  The biggest thing she needs prayer for now is that she will start responding better.  They did warn us that her brain spasm could get worse at any time so we are not out of the woods yet, so continued prayers would be very appreciated!

Ok on to Liam!

We had another doctor’s appointment today and he checked me again.  I was dilated to a 2, he was in a -1, position and I was 50% effaced!  Being as this is my first time I guess that was all a very good sign.  At the end of the appointment we decided with everything crazy going on in our lives to set a date to induce me!  So unless our little man decides to make an early entrance into the world he will be here on Thursday January 27th!!!!  We are so excited to know that we will be holding him within 9 days!  We really wish Denise was wake for all of this, but we just pray she will wake up and get to meet here grandson.  Thank you all for your prayers and support through all of this, it really makes a difference! We love you guys!!!

Friday Update

WARNING
I AM NOT GOOD AT SPELLING OR GRAMMAR NOR AM I A DOCTOR SO IF ANYTHING THAT I SAY SOUNDS WRONG THERE’S A CHANCE IT MAY BE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry it has been a few days guys, life’s been busy!!!

Mom

Mom is in a different room that is a little bigger and quieter which is nice.
After the angiogram on Monday the doctors were hoping for mom to have more response by Tuesday morning but there was not as much as they would have liked.  She is however opening her eyes a little and I have herd that she wiggled her toes. I think Wednesday morning they decided to go back into her brain because she was having some spasm (what is that?) well it's when the blood vessels spasms or clench temporarily stopping the blood flow. So what they did is clean out more of her brain where before they were focused on the point of injury this time they looked all over. It was a very long surgery starting around 11:30 and going till 4:30.  Again they were hopping for a better response the next morning  (Thursday) but it has stayed the same all the way till now (Friday) this is NOT necessarily a bad thing it may take some time for everything to heal properly.  The Doctors have now told us that there is no more surgery to be done it is just a waiting game and we are praying that the spasm will stop and she will begin to heal.

Kimmy

She is back to 100% or 150% if you count Liam!!!!! She does think she is having some small contraction and as most women this far along she is very ready for Liam to be here and not in her belly any more!!!

Liam

We had our 37-week doctor appointment on Thursday which was good, and all is well.  He did not check her but will next time, which is on Tuesday, and if all is just right we may set an official date (doing the happy dance)!!!  Right now we have 20 days to go and we will be in the teens tomorrow!

Update

First I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. They are all welcomed and appreciated.

MOM
Sorry it’s been a couple of days.  Yesterday (Monday) all the doctors were back from the weekend which is good because we may get more answers this way!! Well Monday morning mom was not responding as much as she had been and that had the Doctor concerned so he performed another angiogram (I think that’s what it’s called).  In the process he cleaned up some blood vessels and look around to make sure everything is working the way it is suppose to.  The doctor said that it all went well and that he felt that mom’s should start responding better.

KIMMY
Kim is feeling a lot better, but whatever she had is now going around.  So far Ethan, Suzannne, and Angle have gotten it that I know of.  I hope they recover fast!!

LIAM
We have our 37 week doctor’s appointment on Thursday and we will update you more on him then!!!!!

Today’s update

All right this update is thankfully coming from my own bed at home. Here’s how the rest of yesterday went down. I think it was about the 4th round of nausea medicine that finally seemed to work. By about 7:00 pm last night I was able to eat a couple of crackers and keep down a little water. They had already given me 2 bags of fluids, which also made me feel better. They think that I had a bad virus, but my blood tests showed nothing really unusual. At about 10:30 pm last night they decided I was able to keep enough down and they discharged me. We decided to go ahead and drive home which I’m really glad we did because it is raining/sleeting/snowing out and I’m super glad to be safe at home. Through all of this Liam has been perfect. All his stats were right where they needed to be the whole time we were in the hospital. I am so very glad to feel better today and thank you guys so much for your thought and prayers.

Denise

The biggest update that we got about Denise today is that she is running a fever. She also has had a few times of opening her eyes, which is encouraging. Other than that things seem to be the same as they were yesterday.
